When she is not in class, Lauren Harrington is usually in a studio, on a shoot, or planning her next piece of content. At the University of Miami, she anchors NewsVision, the flagship live newscast produced by UMTV that has been recognized with Emmy and Edward R Murrow Awards. In that role she helps lead coverage of breaking, local and human interest stories, and one of the shows she anchored was nominated for the 45th College Television Awards in the News category, a national honor presented by the Television Academy Foundation, often described as a "student emmy".

Lauren first found her footing with UMTV Pulse, the entertainment show where she started as a freshman. There she hosted the Drama Deep Dive segment, delivering entertainment and celebrity news. She also reported, produced and filmed Fashion Frenzy packages, another segment highlighting Miami fashion culture and student style. Pulse is where she learned how to pitch a segment, write with voice and personality and bring her own style into entertainment and lifestyle coverage.

In the summer, Lauren took her campus experience into a major market as a News and Social Media Intern at FOX 5 DC. She created a social media strategy brief for the station's executive and digital team, contributed to coverage on important assignments including days at the White House and Commanders Training Camp, and grew from observing reporters to producing her own standups and pitches in a professional newsroom. Her work at FOX 5 DC also led to a feature in Stroll Magazine Chevy Chase (a major DC-Maryland neighborhood), which profiled how she balances broadcast journalism with life as a digital content creator.

Lauren’s digital work has grown in parallel with her newsroom roles. After building an audience of almost 40k followers on TikTok and almost 10k on Instagram through behind-the-scenes as a student-reporter and University of Miami content, she was invited to join the Unwell University creator program for Alex Cooper’s Unwell Network. As an Unwell creator she develops content that blends lifestyle, wellness and media and collaborates with a national network of brands and creators, applying everything she learns as a media management student about audience behavior and platform strategy.

On campus, Lauren also brings her media skills into sorority life. She has served as Coordinator of Public Relations and Communications for Delta Phi Epsilon, where she led the chapter visual branding, designed social posts and promotional materials, curated content that highlighted recruitment and philanthropy and planned full public relations campaigns for key events. She worked closely with the executive board to ensure every external communication aligned with chapter values and maintained a consistent and professional image.

Lauren’s interest in media extends beyond one campus or one city. At the London School of Economics, she studied international journalism in the summer of 2024, exploring how digital platforms, liberal democracies, conflict and emerging technologies shape the work of reporters. She is fluent in English and Portuguese and proficient in Spanish, which allows her to connect with a wider range of communities and stories, especially in diverse markets like Miami, Washington and New York.

 

Across everything she does, Lauren is known for her energy, organization and genuine deep passion for her work. Whether she is anchoring a live show, writing a script in the computer lab, editing a package in the editing suites, planning content creation, she always brings the same focus and excitement. With each semester she continues to build on her experience as an anchor, reporter, media management student and content creator, with her eyes set on the next chapter!!
